On November 20th, the 150,000-kilowatt integrated demonstration project of wind, solar, storage and hydrogen production by China Datang Daolun entered full-scale market operation. This is the first green hydrogen coupling coal chemical industry demonstration project in China. The collaborative model of "green electricity hydrogen production + surplus electricity grid connection" has been successfully implemented, providing a replicable practical sample for the green transformation of the coal chemical industry.

This project has established an "wind, solar, storage and hydrogen production + coal chemical industry" integrated circular system, closely connecting new energy with traditional coal chemical industry. The construction scale is large, with a total capacity of 14,000 Nm³/h for the newly-built electrolysis water hydrogen production device (maximum hydrogen production capacity 15,400 Nm³/h), and it is also equipped with a 120MW wind farm, a 30MW photovoltaic power station, and a 22.5MW/45MWh energy storage system, forming a green energy complex integrating power generation, energy storage and hydrogen production.

The green hydrogen produced by this project is directly supplied to the coal chemical methanol synthesis and polypropylene (PP) production devices through pipelines, replacing traditional coal-based gray hydrogen with clean green hydrogen, achieving a significant industrial innovation of "green hydrogen replacing carbon". After the project's commissioning, it is expected to produce 70.59 million standard cubic meters of green hydrogen annually, increase methanol production by 29,700 tons per year, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 129,300 tons per year. It not only significantly improves the comprehensive utilization efficiency of coal resources but also gives the traditional coal chemical industry a "green" coat, breathing new life and vitality.

The project adopts advanced electrolysis water hydrogen production technology, with 12 1000Nm³/h electrolyzers and 1 2000Nm³/h electrolyzer configured, and is equipped with gas-liquid separation and purification devices. At the same time, a 2000Nm³/h demonstration platform interface is reserved, providing a valuable experimental scenario for the research and innovation of new energy storage technologies. Through the substitution of green electricity for traditional coal power hydrogen production, the project achieves zero carbon emissions in the hydrogen production process and optimizes the coal chemical process to solidify more carbon elements into methanol products, successfully creating a closed-loop system of "green energy - clean production - carbon reduction", setting an example for industry green development.

Based on this demonstration project, the "green electricity hydrogen coupling coal chemical industry integrated energy management system" has been successfully included in the list of the fifth batch of energy field's first-of-a-kind major technical equipment announced by the National Energy Administration. This system integrates core functions such as optimization scheduling of wind, solar, hydrogen storage and real-time power balance control, effectively solving key technical problems such as the mismatch between wind and solar output fluctuations and the continuous production requirements of hydrogen production, achieving efficient collaborative operation of wind power generation, hydrogen production and energy storage, providing an intelligent solution for the large-scale integration of high proportion of new energy, and marking a major breakthrough in technological innovation and engineering application in the coupling of new energy and traditional coal chemical industry. The project has obtained 28 invention patents and released 3 enterprise standards, and has been successfully included in the first batch of the National Energy Administration's energy field hydrogen pilot project list.

The enterprise leader introduced that the integrated energy management system independently developed by this project has been included in the list of the fifth batch of energy field's first-of-a-kind major technical equipment announced by the National Energy Administration and the 2025 annual national green technology innovation cases; in October, it was included in the list of the National Energy Field's hydrogen pilot projects (the first batch) announced.

Daolun Coal Chemical Company's vice general manager Tang Le said: "As of now, the green hydrogen device has been continuously operating for over 5,000 hours, producing more than 18 million standard cubic meters of qualified high-purity green hydrogen, and coupling with coal chemical production to produce 7,563 tons of methanol, achieving carbon dioxide emission reduction of over 35,400 tons. During the full-load debugging stage, the project team is continuously deepening technological innovation and optimizing operation management to lay a solid foundation for the subsequent full-scale commissioning of the project with safe and efficient operation."
